چکیده
Abstract This research aims to investigate the near-bed turbulent flow characteristics in a meandering channel with both mobile bed and immobile conditions. Experiments were performed prismatic rectangular non-uniform sand of size d50 = 0.523mm. The three-dimensional instantaneous fluid velocity was collected using Acoustic Doppler velocimeter which will provide important results related turbulence such as mean velocity, intensity, Reynolds shear stress, kinetic energy, skewness, kurtosis anisotropy. secondary current exchange momentum form stress intensity at inner layer are identified more condition compared an condition, causes sediment transport. For flow, energy decreased magnitude gradually increase outer for Higher anisotropy is noticed than shows nonuniformities near level condition. study may help understanding effect transport due structure sinuous alluvial channel.

Sediment Transport in Unsteady Flow Conditions
Sediment transport under unsteady flow condition is studied experimentally. In the first step, sediment transport under different steady flow conditions was measured and an empirical equation was derived for its calculation. In the next step, two continuous and three stepwise hydrographs were generated in the flume, and their sediment transport rate was measured. The continuous hydrographs were...
متن کاملTurbulent Flow in Geophysical Channels
The problem of turbulent flow in a rough pipe of arbitrary shape is considered. The classical Izakson-Millikan argument for a logarithmic velocity profile is presented, and matched asymptotic expansions are introduced. Scaled, dimensionless equations are produced and simplified. A simple mixing length turbulence model is presented, which closes the problem. To calibrate the model, the mechanica...
متن کاملDirect Numerical Simulation of Sediment Transport in Turbulent Open Channel Flow
Direct numerical simulations of interface-resolved sediment transport in horizontal open-channel flow are currently being performed on the XC-4000. The channel bottom boundary is roughened with a fixed layer of spheres and about 9000 particles are allowed to move within the computational domain. The density ratio of the solid and fluid phase is 1.7 and the bulk Reynolds number of the flow is 28...
متن کاملSediment transport in steep channels with large roughness elements
Most sediment transport equations overestimate the bedload transport rate by several times when applied to mountain rivers. This is due to the fact that the presence of large relatively immobile boulders, which disrupt the flow, is generally not taken into account. Sediment transport in steep channels with boulders was herein investigated using 41 laboratory experiments carried out on a tilting...
متن کاملSediment Transport and Dunes in Pipe Flow
We propose a two-phase model having a Newtonian rheology for the fluid phase and friction for the particle phase to describe bed-load transport in laminar pipe flows. This model is able to provide a description of the flow of the mobile granular layer. When the flow is not significantly perturbed, simple analytical results of the particle flux varying cubically with the Shields number can be ob...
